Tina Truax is an award-winning essayist and author of Girl on the Right: Memoir of a Life Upside Down, a 2018 Wishing Shelf Book Awards finalist.
At age 6, Tina was gifted a copy of Shel Silverstein's A Light in the Attic. Through his poetry, she discovered the healing power of prose. As a result, Tina turned to words during the darkest hours of her childhood, adolescent, and young adult years. Through the medium of creative nonfiction, she shares her life's toils and triumphs to champion and inspire those who have survived trauma and are striving to build lives of passion and purpose.
Tina earned an English degree from Delta College, where she was awarded the Margaret Timm Award for English. During her time at Delta, she won multiple writing awards for personal essay and poetry through the Liberal Arts Network for Development (LAND), and League for Innovation in the Community College.
Tina is a wife, mother, and friend, as well as a glitter-loving coffee addict with a sweet spot for big, sloppy dogs. In addition to her day job, Tina mentors budding writers who share her affinity for words and the worlds and feelings they create.
